| Test site usage | ||||
| Believe it or not, my test site it was the first test site in the e107 community. I know is not a big deal, but now the test sites are pretty popular. It is a good idea? Well, not exactly. You have a front theme and put all the custom menus and plugins to fill this particular theme needs. If you change the theme you can have some strange situations with empty columns or worst with banners that break the layout. An advanced user knows that and ignores the inconvenient, but a beginner can think you have bad coding themes and the test site become a handicap. What is the solution? I don’t know yet. For me is out of the discussion to make all the themes with the same number of custom areas and placed in the same locations. First is the design and then the code to put on the page that design. And frankly I have no time to transform all my themes for that. A temporary solution is to give to the users the right to manage the menus and the links. That is the reason that now the test site is a restricted area just for the members. I hope in time to find a really good solution. Can have some problems, like a few days ago when someone change the password a few times in 2 days? I hope not. How it’s work now? First you sign up here and after registration you find on the right column the name and the password to access the test site. There you can change the theme, activate, deactivate and change the locations of the menus and the links, depending on the theme you want to try. Enjoy your tests! | |||||
